Color Study

This is our first formal study of color in drawing. Right now we are working on a COLOR value study using texture collages like the collage posted previously.

MIDTERM close-ups

Close-ups of my 3 most liked drawings for the midterm project.

MIDTERM

For the drawing midterm we had to pick an organic object and produce 10 final drawings of it. In 10 different ways. The final 10 drawings were then put together in a chinese folding book layout. Not my favorite project...

yet another Value Study

This is a cow skull. The background: drapes. Black and white conte crayon. Black vine charcoal.

Collage Value Study

For this project we had to make a collage of images that displayed texture. If our collage was in color we had to photocopy it to geta black and white version. Then we had to do a black and white value study of the collage section we chose to do. Here is my color version: Here is the black and white version of my color version: And, here is my drawing interpretation. We used black and white conte crayons and black vine charcoal.

color texture

this was the first project we did in drawing that involved color. bascially this was a big experiment. we could do whatever we wanted, use whatever we wanted. we just had to make an abstract texture-y project. my professor like mine, so that was good.

Value Study

This assignment was to teach us how to do a full value study of a subject and to develop a sense of shade gradation. There was a platform in the center of the room with a bunch of paper bags on it and we were to choose two of the bags to draw. This assignment was done in soft vine charcoal.

Leaf

For this assignment we had to draw the vein system of a leaf using clean conture lines. We were not allowed to have an outline of the leaf. We had to start with the main vein and work out into each branch of the main vein. The leaf I brought in had connecting veins running along the outer edges, so the shape of my leaf is very obvious even without an edge outline. The finished product is the result of 7 total hours of work.

Line Examples, cont.

More close up shots of the 30 line examples.

Line Examples

For this assignment we had to take an 18x24in drawing sheet and divide it into 30 sections and draw 30 individual, abstract examples of line drawings.
